DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION THE TIME IS NOW FOR AN OPEN AND HONEST DISCUSSION ABOUT IT

One of the biggest issues we, as a society, face today is creating and honoring common ground in the face of diversity. In order to step up our understanding and bridge the divide, we need to understand the main differences and work together.

First, what is the real difference between “diversity” and “inclusion”? Yes, they are two different words with different meanings.

DIVERSITY includes any dimension used to differentiate groups and people from one another.

INCLUSION makes an effort to bring all people, no matter their background, feel included and equal.

It is crucial for all organizations, no matter if its an employer, a social organization, a religious group, an educational facility, to recognize the benefits of the differences of diversity and inclusion and learn to respect and value each individual in order to build a better experience for everyone.

Making people feel valued and important will ultimately help them function at full capacity and feel part of the organization’s mission and core values. When organizations focus on allocating resources to training and development, they will naturally attract the right people with the best minds, skills, and experience to them. Conversely, in order to do that, thinking outside the box and trying new things needs to be the rule rather than the exception.
